Dan was a full-time farmer from 1978 until 1996 on their family farm in Parkesburg, Pa. From there, Dan went to a technical school to pursue his interest in diesel engine repair and worked for a short time in the diesel truck industry until 1988.
His career changed course dramatically as he had an opportunity to work for a water treatment company in Lancaster, Pa. He made the switch and worked there for 10 years, and seven of those ten years he served in management.
It was during this time that Dan had witnessed several local independently owned plumbing businesses close their doors. Seeing the need for a plumbing business to serve the local area, combined with his water treatment experience, Dan obtained his Master Plumbing license to begin his new business in 1998 which he called Tri-County Water Services.
After 20 successful years in the plumbing industry helping his wonderful customers, Dan passed the torch to his son Brent D. Hershey. In 2018, Brent officially became a second-generation owner of Tri-County Water Services and took the passion his father instilled in him to serve his community and serve it exceedingly well.
Today, Dan balances his time between working at Tri-County Water Services and doing other things he loves to do. He’s an avid hunter and enjoys the great outdoors, along with spending time with his grandchildren, family and working on his many building projects.
He looks forward to seeing the fruits of his labor grow, change, and evolve as the next generation of leadership serves our community in humility and excellence.
